For sea salt or dial use a Q-tip dipped in solution to get the jewelry in surrounding skin clean and crusty free, rinse the solution thoroughly. For difficult crusties do a sea salt soak using the directions above in a Dixie cup or shot glass, cup over or submerged the piercing site for 5-15 minutes, follow up with a Q-tip removing all build up and rinse thoroughly. Afterward, dry the area with disposable paper towels, gauze, or air dry.

  • For 2 weeks – Stay away from anything with yeast in it which includes noodles, potatoes, bread, milk, yogurt, here, or wine (hard liquor is okay) Hot beverages, spicy, high citric acid foods may cause further irritation and swelling, No wet kissing or oral sex

Swelling will occur and is normal, anything cold will help reduce swelling which includes lots of ice, slushies and non-dairy smoothies.

If it applies to you, clean the outside of the piercing with one of the basic Aftercare instructions provided above three to four times a day removing all crusties. If medically able, take ibuprofen or preferably Midol as it helps more with the pain and swelling, (YES men can take Midol and it works better than Ibuprofen) follow instructions provided on medicine.

Microdermal – Clean 3 times a day for at least 4 weeks

NeilMed

Spray directly on piercing and jewelry, let it sit for 10 seconds to loosen up the crusties.

Dial gold

Mix 2 pumps of liquid Dial gold in 1 cup (8 oz) of warm water. Dampen for 10 seconds to loosen up the crusties.

  • Clean Very gently around the thermal head, do not try to lift the dermal head or clean underneath. This could cause unnecessary drama or rejection. If you have built up crusties use the sea salt soak method from above and flatten the head of the Q-tip to gently get underneath.

Healing time is approximately 8 weeks, but you will want to wait at least 12 weeks to change the top to make sure the skin is fully anchored through the base to avoid migration or rejection.

Consult your piercer for any questions or concerns!

Your piercing May develop blood/plasma/white secretions (crusties) this is normal. However, if you develop an infection, smelly, yellow-green discharge/puss, redness with irritation or fever contact your physician immediately.
